MSI: in-house Panelists:
Profile: A “Jack Of All Trades”, Ian has had the pleasure of working across a variety of sectors within the music business, both on a local level as well as nationally in the UK and internationally via the internet. He started in the industry as a Graphic Designer, working on artwork and sleeve designs for artists including David Bowie, The Beastie Boys, Joe Cocker, as well as for labels including Sony, K-Tel, Telstar, EMI, Parlophone, Universal and other smaller indie labels and bands. Through that job he got involved in working at festivals, booking acts, stage managing events and occasionally acting as an MC, working with bands including Bad Manners, Chas’n’Dave and The Dum Dums. One of his longest running events is the fREAKJAM Jamnight, which has run every Thursday in various venues around West London for nearly 20 years.
As a musician himself, Ian is currently the lead vocalist for the fREAKJAM house band and for covers band From The Ashes, who play regular dates in small venues, with occasional festival appearances. He also has an original project as a singer/songwriter called 8 Month Malfunction, which was formed after the demise of his previous band fREAK-1-C, and was for a short time signed to a publishing deal and single release with Electric Horse Songs Ltd. Ian now records and produces most of his music from a small home studio, mainly using Logic Pro, with help from various friends and colleagues, including a global collaboration that he produced which covered 19 countries on 5 continents. A big fan of acoustic music, Ian can play some guitar, ukulele, bass, or keys and likes to experiment with more unusual instruments.
Recently Ian has been producing more video content for his own YouTube channel as well as for others, and has been fortunate to work with acts including Walk Off The Earth, Ian Blackwood, Paul Miro, and Myles Erlick as well as producing videos for his own songs and for the Music Scene Investigation podcast. Ian is also no stranger to radio and has been interviewed as an artist or has guest presented on national, local and internet radios, including shows on LBC, Absolute, MSI:Radio, WWIR, Readifolk Radio and more.

Name: James Anderson
Location: Brighton, UK
Occupation: Sound Engineer and Audio Producer
Industry Involvement: 10+ years
Profile: James is a Sound Engineer and Audio Producer. Despite working in the world of corporate voiceover, recording e-learning modules, television/radio adverts and producing on-hold audio for telephone systems, James has a solid background in band recording and sound design. James is also a keen record collector and has bought and sold vinyl since being a music student. Over the years James has built up a vast knowledge of music and knows what is rare and collectible. He collects ‘60s and ‘70s psychedelic and progressive rock artists and has a vast collection of jazz 78s. Passionate about surround sound, James is a Quadraphonic aficionado and has spent many years attempting to perfect the fiddly setup process required to extract four channels of audio from one groove. In recent years of record dealing, James met and became firm friends with MSI guest panellist and legendary record producer John Schroeder. This friendship eventually led to a memorable and rather entertaining meeting with in-house MSI panellist Ian Husbands – the rest, as they say, is history…
